Cannon Falls, MN - The public is invited to attend a very interesting "Adventures in Learning" event on Friday, September 10th. The featured speaker for this fall event will be Minnesota author, Arlene Nelson who wrote the book Crackers and Milk. Nelson finally decided she would write down the stories she had heard from her mother as a child, stories that illustrate a difficult childhood for her mom, but also a life of determination and hope. Arlene's mother, Sarah Richards Sanborn, along with her brothers and sisters were taken from their parents and placed in the Iowa Soldiers Home back in 1919.

Those attending "Adventures in Learning" will hear an amazing story of an unusually tarnished childhood, a story of strength, determination, loyalty and resilience of this extraordinary girl.

Adventures in Learning will start at 9:30 a.m. on September 10th at St. Ansgars Church in Cannon Falls. Also speaking at the fall event with be Dr. Glover and Bill Priest, Chief Administrative Officer, from the Cannon Falls Medical Center. These two will provide an update on the status of the Cannon Falls Hospital and the Medical Center.

"Adventures in Learning" is one of many programs offered through the Shepherd's Center of the Cannon Valley. Besides listening to excellent speakers, those attending will also enjoy lunch and have an opportunity to purchase the book "Crackers and Milk" at the conclusion of the event. Those who would like to attend are asked to call Shepherd's Center at 507-263-2136. The cost to attend is only $5.00, and includes lunch.
